This is the 'Lazy Boy' smokestand, believed to be designed by Walter von Nessen in the early 1930's or so for
Chase Brass of Connecticut. One of the few Chase items that can be used as furniture, it sports a small
storage area under the movable circular top. The removable ashtray also has a sliding top, with a tube
for ashes which sits in the fluted section. The circular top is covered in an original leatherette type
material, which has some slight discoloration but is still very presentable. Metal is in very good condition
with original finish throughout. We haven't polished the brass, so it retains a lovely patina. Base is
remarkably clean without the usual assortment of large dents and dings; not spotless but very clean. All
in all a very unusual and handsome piece in exceptional condition.
