This is one of the most sought after of all the vintage glass airplane lamps! These lamps have been reproduced, but only the originals have the patent number embossed in the glass on the bottom of the plane body. The numbers are actually impressed into the glass: Patent# 110196. The white ones are hard enough to find, but the cobalt blue bodies are extremely difficult. Glass is in very good condition with only a very little roughness under the tail cap, which is not visible when assembled. Glass has no chips, cracks, or breaks. This is a vintage chrome base, not one of the Sarsaparilla bases produced in the 70's, which are marked as such on the bottom. Plane sits evenly and retains original propellers, which are usually missing. The chrome does show a few small wear spots, but it's over 80 years old. The propeller and a few of the small underside parts have some very light surface rust, but all in all, it's a pretty clean example. Even the paint on the plane body is clean and strong. It's been rewired for safety with a vintage bakelite plug. Please check photos for more details. This is one of the nicest examples we've had in awhile. |
